Sworn translation of a Bachelor’s Degree

Enquiry: I am an Italian citizen currently applying for a Master’s degree program in Italy. My Bachelor’s Degree, however, was issued in portuguese by a university in Brazil.

The degree has already been apostilled by a sworn authority, but I did not have time to have it translated before returning to Italy. I would like to request the following information regarding the translation process:

  • The cost of the translation
  • The estimated time required to complete it
  • Whether the translation can be done from Portuguese (Brazil) into English instead of Italian

The university (Roma Tre) has confirmed that an English translation is acceptable. For this reason, I would appreciate receiving information and pricing for both English and Italian translations, if possible.

Translator’s answer:

As for the cost of the translation, I need you to send me the scanned copy of the document that you want me to translate. In addition to the cost of the sworn translation, the Court requires a €16 revenue stamp on the translation. As for the time, I generally go to the Court of Rome once a week for the oaths on my sworn translations.

The sworn translation can only be done from Portuguese into Italian and then from Italian into English, so the translation needs to be sworn twice.

Thank you for your enquiry.
