FAQ – I recently received three apostilled copies of my U.S. birth certificates. These need to be translated into Italian as sworn translations (traduzioni giurate) for use in AIRE registration and transcription purposes.
To assist in the process, I have prepared a cover letter (in Italian) for the Italian Consulate in the U.S., which I am attaching along with scanned copies of the apostilled birth certificates.
I kindly request a quote that includes:
- Sworn translation (traduzione giurata) of the three apostilled birth certificates
- Stamps (marche da bollo) required
- Preparation of the finalized packet (containing the sworn translation and the apostilled birth certificate)
- Shipping of the packet to the Italian Consulate in the U.S.
Reply: Dear Client, Thank you for your enquiry.
I still have a doubt about your request.
I suppose that the three apostilled copies of your birth certificate are with you in the U.S.
- Do you plan to send them to me in Rome?
- Or would you like me to print out the scanned copies and use them for the sworn translation?
Generally, I work with original documents. Therefore, if you want me to print the copies out, you should double-check with the relevant authorities if they accept scanned copies of the documents instead of the original version.
Please let me know how you wish to proceed.
