Inquiry about interpreting service in Rome

Question: I’m reaching out to inquire about interpreting services for an upcoming trip to Rome.

We will be hosting a series of meetings and dinners with international guests, and will need interpreting support across French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. Most sessions will be one-on-one or small groups, so I believe consecutive or liaison interpreting would be the right fit, but I’d welcome your recommendation.

A few questions to help us plan:

Do you work across all four of these languages yourself, or would we need to coordinate more than one interpreter to cover them all?

Interpreter’s answer: I work as interpreter across Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. As for French > Italian, I only work with written translations, so I will need to find another colleague for interpreting. As for Spanish and Portuguese <> Italian, if the meetings take place at the same time in various languages, of course more than one interpreter will be needed per session.

Do you have a minimum booking time (e.g., half-day vs. full-day)?

Yes, my minimum booking time is half a day.

Do your rates differ for dinner/social settings versus formal meetings?

If the full day or half day of work is to be extended to cover a dinner event, a different fee will apply.

Do you charge any travel or mobilization fee for work near the Vatican specifically?

No, the Vatican is at the centre of Rome and there is no need for additional travel fees, as I am based in Rome.

In addition to the exact meeting schedule, do you need to know anything else to organize the interpreting service?

To organize the interpreting service at its best, I would appreciate it if you could share more details on the meeting content and guest list once we’re closer to confirming.
