FAQ – I’m getting married and I need my certificate of no impediment sworn and translated by a legal sworn translator with an Apostille. Do you offer this service?
Answer: Yes, I offer sworn translation services, but I need more information:
- What language do you want the certificate translated into, and for which country?
- Where are you located?
- Would you please send me the scan copy of the certificate via email, so that I can send you a quote for the translation?
- Have you already got an Apostille on the certificate itself? – You need to get the Apostille on the certificate first, than have it translated and finally get the Apostille on the sworn translation.
Client: The certificate is in English. I need it translated in Italian and delivered in Italy. Can I do all these steps with you?
Answer: The Apostille needs to be put on the certificate by the authorities of the country of origin, so I cannot do it. You should ask them how to get it. Then I can provide you with a sworn translation of the document, and I can send it to you to an Italian postal address. If the translation is into Italian, it is going to be already valid with just the sworn translation, and Italian authorities do not put an Apostille on Italian translations. The Apostille is only needed when a translation into another language needs to be submitted to foreign authorities. Please ask the office where you want to submit the document if they really require the apostille on the original document, or if they can accept the sworn translation without the apostille.
Once all that is done, you can send me the document by registered mail and I can proceed with the translation.
