What is the difference between a certified translation and a sworn translation of a University Diploma from Latin to English?
The certified translation of a Latin University Diploma can be done directly from Latin to English, and be self-certified by the translator, who specifies their qualifications and how to verify them, and then stamps and signs the translation to make it certified. Most of the times a digital certified translation is accepted, so there is no need to ship the paper documents to Czech Republic.
The sworn translation of a Latin University Diploma is sworn by the translator before a Court, and cannot be done directly from Latin to English. The Degree Certificate or University Diploma must be first translated in the official language of the country where the Court is based, then translated from such official language into English. This requires two sworn translations to be issued and attached to the original Latin document. In my specifica case, I am an official sworn translator of the Court of Rome, Italy, therefore I can provide the sworn translation from Latin to Italian and from Italian to English, all of them enclosed together and stamped by the Court of Rome.
